Meet Reverend Chuck

e-mail

I was born on October 20th, 1948 in the Naval Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. My father was in the Marines so we moved around a lot as I grew up. From about 3 years old to 5th Grade, we lived in Santa Ana, California. 6th Grade through Freshman in High School was spent in Havelock, NC, and I moved to Dallas in 1962. In High School, I played in a band and was involved in theater and debate. I graduated from Bishop Dunn High School in 1966 and spent a year at what was then Arlington State College.
I also began working in radio at KXOL AM RADIO in Fort Worth. I joined the Marines in 1968 and spent 5 years both active and reserve. I was stationed at Glenco, Georgia for most all of my active duty tour. While in the Marines, I was a 6711/AC or Air Traffic Controller. When I got back to Dallas, I began my Radio Career in earnest and landed a job at KLIF working the noon to 3 shift for 4 years. I then went to KVIL as Operations Manager. In 1978, after 3 years at KVIL, I went out on my own as a free lance Voice guy and that is pretty much what I have been doing to pay the rent ever since. I now am Blessed to have Clients like Kroger Food Stores, The American Airlines Center, The RoomStore, Ashley Furniture, Blue Cross and Blue Shield. I have a Studio in our home and Sunnie and I do most of our work from there. She runs the business and I do the Voice Work.

My Spiritual Path has been colorful, to say the least -- When I was a young boy, my mother was convinced I should be a priest. I went through 12 years of Catholic School, which in hindsight, gave a really solid Spiritual Foundation on which to build over the years. I was an altar boy until I left High School. I served in my Parish as the PAC President for 6 years and was President of the Men's Club for over 12 years. I was always drawn to the "Spiritual" side of things, and it has always been easy for me to "see" the Spiritual component in all things. I dabbled in Metaphysical studies for a number of years, but it was not until I met Sunnie and we began our Spiritual Quest together that things really picked up speed.

The past 5 years or so have been non-stop learning tours and I don't see any sign of it letting up anytime soon. And that is not a bad thing. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Pastoral Care from the University of Sedona. Currently both Sunnie and I are working on our Graduate Programs with a Doctorate in Philosophy as my 3-year goal. Becoming Co-Pastor of UNITY of Richardson has been one of the Greatest Blessings in my life. As I approach the 60 mark, I can honestly say that this is what I have been training for all along and it is truly what I came here to do. I quote the car ad: "It's going to be a great ride." Stay Blessed !!!

Rev. Chuck Murphy I.M.M.
